Matrix Switch Corporation is a new company with an old heritage. The story began at CBS Television Network's Broadcast Center in the 1960's with their in-house design of production and routing switchers. The story then moves out west to a little town in the foothills of the California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains’ Grass Valley.
Grass Valley's first boom was the "Northern Mines" of the California gold rush in the 1850’s.
Over fifty years ago a small company that would come to be known by the name of the town, Grass Valley Group chose to locate in this serene setting.
Since then over a dozen video companies have started here or made this area their home. Matrix Switch Corporation is the evolution of some of those companies. Specifically Grass Valley Group, Hedco (which became part of Leitch Video in 1982) and Sierra Video Systems.
Our mission is to provide a fresh approach to matrix switcher design. This combines the best of the past with new ideas. From the past comes our mantra and passion for high reliability modular designs. The fresh parts are our pricing and open control systems.
Our end users include: NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Major League Baseball, Naval Underwater Warfare Centre, Flight Safety Simulation, Command and control centers in Hawaii and Alabama and many others.
