Extended Information

These VGA RGBHV matrix switchers have wide bandwidth combined with ultra-low crosstalk technology, producing artifact-free images at any image resolution including QXGA.

Matrix Switch Corporation VGA RGBHV matrix switchers have wide bandwidth that meets or exceeds the bandwidth of most competing systems. A high bandwidth specification is actually much less important compared to how flat the response is and achieving good bandwidth (response) AND having the lowest crosstalk performance in the industry. If your application requires resolutions of XGA and higher, then crosstalk in the 50MHz through 200MHz range is crucial. Most competitors either have much poorer crosstalk specifications or leave out this information because they either do no realize its importance or the number they would have to reveal would be an embarrassment. The human eye can easily see unwanted artifacts that are 1/100th the amplitude of the desired image. 1/100th is the same as 1% which is that same as -40dB. -40dB at 50MHs with all other inputs and outputs hostile is Matrix Switch Corporation's worst case specification. Most input / output combinations exceed this by about 10dB (= 0.3% artifacts / compared to desired image).

Matrix Switch Corporation achieves this combination of clean, flat response and low crosstalk by careful circuit design combined with over 40 years of experience in the area of high frequency printed circuit board design. The use of multi-layer circuit boards combined with shielding between all signals with intermediate ground planes and additional guard band shielding on each layer assures ultra low crosstalk and signal uniformity with any crosspoint combination. Each output can have a different input selected or the same input can be selected to multiple outputs. No matter what the crosspoint selection combination may be, there is no degradation of signal path.

By using HD-15 connectors for all inputs and outputs these matrix switchers require much less rack mounting space than competing systems with the same number of inputs and outputs. Matrix Switch Corporation uses a unique combination of plug-in multi-layer crosspoint modules and an HD15 connector based backplane motherboard system to attain a compact size while maintaining the highest performance, electrical reliability and mechanical integrity. The rugged mechanical design of Matrix Switch Corporation VGA switchers combined with the small size, makes them an ideal fit for the rigors of the staging and rental industry.

Matrix Switch Corporation VGA RGBHV switchers employ a flexible and user friendly control system. In addition to a simple and logical RS232 ASCII protocol that is currently supported by a number of third party control companies, these VGA switchers have other easy to use control ports. Each system has a built in web page. Unlike GUI software that must be loaded on a PC which may be OS dependent, have conflict issues or compromise system performance, the built in web page will run on any platform and with any web browser. In addition Matrix Switch Corporation offers a selection of remote control panels. These panels are TCP/IP Ethernet based, which give you the greatest flexibility in placement, quantity and how they will be networked.

The remote software update feature allows new software with new features to be easily re-loaded via the Ethernet port without the need to open up the system, use any special programming systems or development system software.

For applications that require either a very large number of inputs or very large number of outputs, Matrix Switch Corporation VGA switchers can be cascaded with no degradation of overall performance. MSC5-3208 can be cascaded to build systems with 128 VGA inputs and 8 VGA outputs in just 10RU (17.5" of vertical rack space). MSC5-6416's can be cascaded up to 256 VGA inputs by 16 VGA outputs. And MSC5-1664 can be cascaded up to 16 VGA inputs by 256 VGA outputs.

Each Matrix Switch Corporation VGA RGBHV switcher has an AFV control expansion connector that allows foe easy integration of a variety of different Each Matrix Switch Corporation analog or digital audio. Often audio is not required or it does not require the same number of inputs and outputs as the VGA RGBHV switcher. When a separate Matrix Switch Corporation audio switcher is added, it can located up to 50 feet away from the main video frame.
